I still feel like I have quite a long way to go, but I do feel like I’ve made a steady progression forward in the last 6 months and it excites me
Artists like Chrome Sparks (Brooklyn-based producer) have inspired me - I saw him play a show in Brooklyn a few weeks back and his live show was great! I also had a writing session with him, and it went swimmingly. I also got to see The Knife play in New York too whilst I was there - that completely blew my mind and is probably my favourite concert to date that I’ve been to. Their recent album Shaking The Habitual continues to inspire me every time I listen to it, so to see it played live in concert was phenomenal.
Q. You continue to get major support in the form of remixes and radio play. Do you now feel as if you’ve finally made it or does the journey still have a long road ahead?
This year, life on the road has been so exciting! I have only ever been to New York and LA, so to travel to Toronto/London and Berlin this time around is just amazing. They say travel broadens the mind, I couldn’t agree more…I count myself as being very lucky to have my music bring me to all of these exciting new destinations!
Q. You’re in the middle of quite a busy one month tour with recent performances in New York, Toronto, and London. What’s life like on the road this year?
Q. Which artists have really inspired you in 2014? Why?
"I count myself as being
very lucky to a have my music"
I took ballet classes for 12 years when I was younger - thinking I was going to have a career as a ballet dancer
I would like to get better at swimming and driving. haha
Q. It seems like you do it all, vocals, production, songwriting, even fashion… is there anything you can’t do or something you would like to get much better at?
Q. You’re originally from Australia, a country which is becoming a hot point for female Electronic producers, DJ’s and vocalists. What is it about “down under” that helps to produce such great talent?
I have no idea really, maybe it’s because we are geographically so far away from the music hype of America & EU that we want to make ourselves heard? I never think about that kinda thing to be honest.
Q. We’re seeing a lot of producers such as yourself, Le Youth, Disclosure, and many others revolutionizing Electronic Music by going back to the 90’s, to the groove… do you have aspirations of collaborating with these sort of artists or do you prefer to maintain your own style with your current team?
I definitely have aspirations of collaborating with Disclosure that’s for sure! It’s always great to write with other artists who are on the same page as you creatively because it just works - though, it is hard to get in the studio with artists like those mentioned who have really excelled.
Q. What/Where next for the talented Elizabeth Rose?
I’m currently writing my album so I’ll be a very busy bee for the next few months! I’m also collaborating with a lot of other artists too
Q. Tell us a fun fact about yourself
Q. Last words for aspiring musicians
Don’t ever try to follow musical trends, focus solely on your own music and you gotta put the hard work in
