In Selective Interpretation, photographer Navi Schiff transforms the coastline into a stage of self-confrontation and rebirth. Bathed in warm, hazy light and wrapped in a net that is part armor, part constraint, Lilydelivers a performance that oscillates between entrapment and liberation.
Every frame feels suspended between worlds: raw and sensual, grounded yet ethereal. The interplay of textures, wet skin, tangled mesh, rough stone, mirrors the emotional tension at the heart of the series. Alexandra Moacanin’s makeup captures the shimmer of sea spray and the melancholy of twilight, painting the subject as both myth and mortal.
There’s an unspoken narrative running beneath the surface: identity as fluid as the tide, truth reshaped by perception. Schiff’s soft-focus lens turns reality into memory, asking the viewer to look closer, and question what they see.
